Why Houston Homeowners Choose Jerith Construction

We’re an independent Jerith repair in Houston, Texas, repairing and installing Jerith aluminum fences, gates, and railing systems across the city’s neighborhoods, from Meyerland to the Energy Corridor. Our crews have rebuilt and refinished Jerith aluminum fences across Houston for over a decade, so we know how Jerith’s half-inch pickets, notched rails, and powder-coat formulations fail in coastal humidity. We run our own Jerith-specific repairs, never as an authorized agent, so our recommendations are based on what actually lasts on Houston lots. Call (254) 272-5240 to schedule your free estimate.

As an independent Jerith service provider, Elmstead Remodeling Houston is not affiliated with or authorized by Jerith. That matters in a good way: we tell you what we actually see on Houston properties, not what a manufacturer’s brochure says you should see. Our written price comes before any work starts, and our crew leaves your fence line cleaner than we found it, drop cloths down, shoe covers on, and a photo of the clean-up before we pull out of the driveway.

Why Trust Elmstead Remodeling Houston for Your Jerith Construction?

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

Jerith aluminum fencing has a particular anatomy. The half-inch pickets slide into notched horizontal rails, and the powder coat is formulated to hold up in most climates. Houston is not most climates. Our technicians know which Jerith models hold up on a Bellaire lot versus a Braeswood corner, and they know which fasteners corrode first when sprinkler overspray hits the bottom rail every morning at 6 a.m. That’s not generic fence knowledge. That’s years of hands-on repair data from Houston’s specific combination of humidity, salt air, and expansive clay.

Graham Stein, owner of Elmstead Remodeling Houston, grew up in Los Angeles and learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending the better part of two decades swinging a hammer and managing crews across Southern California. He has been running remodeling work in the Houston area for several years now, and on any given Jerith fence job, that means a written scope before a single tool comes out of the truck. His kids remind him regularly that he talks about floor transitions and moisture barriers at dinner more than anyone should. For Jerith work specifically, our crews refer to the proprietary picket profile and rail notch dimensions when sourcing materials, because the wrong aftermarket picket is a visible mistake that stays visible.

The Cedarwell Care Promise governs every project: shoe covers and drop cloths inside the house, a written price before any work starts, a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves, quiet tools during family rest hours where possible, and pet-safe product choices where available. A written price and a covered floor before any work begins, that is where the trust starts.

Common Jerith Construction Problems We Fix in Houston

  • Powder coat peeling at picket-to-rail notches. Jerith’s residential aluminum fence lines, including the standard 4-foot to 6-foot picket styles, rely on a tight friction fit where pickets enter the notched rails. Houston’s salt-laden humidity works its way into those notches, and the powder coat begins to bubble and peel, exposing bare aluminum underneath. We see this most often on fences that face east, where morning dew sits longest. The fix is not just paint, it is scuffing the oxide, priming the bare metal, and applying a color-matched topcoat that adheres to the prepared surface.
  • Gate sagging and latch misalignment on pool-code gates. Jerith pool-code fences, built to BOCA compliance, have self-closing hinges and specific latch geometry. In Houston’s coastal air, the original fasteners corrode, the gate drifts, and suddenly the self-closing latch does not clear. That is a code issue, not a cosmetic one. We re-hang gates on stainless steel hinges with adjustable springs, and we verify the self-closing function before we consider the job done.
  • Loss of structural rigidity where the bottom rail meets the post. Houston’s expansive clay soils move. They shrink in drought and swell after rain, and that movement transfers into fence posts. On Jerith fences, the original fasteners where the bottom rail meets the post can back out slowly, and the entire rail begins to flex. We reset posts and replace fasteners with corrosion-resistant hardware, checking level in three planes before tightening anything.
  • White oxidation along the bottom rail from sprinkler overspray. Aluminum does not rust, but it does oxidize, and we see more of this in Houston than most markets because of the combination of irrigation systems and humidity. The telltale sign is a chalky white bloom along the bottom rail, often right where a sprinkler head arcs. We can clean and protect the rail, but the real fix involves adjusting the sprinkler pattern, then applying a protective treatment to the affected aluminum.
  • Estate Series gate hardware failure. Jerith’s Estate Series uses heavier pickets and a more substantial frame, but the gate hinges and latch are still wear items. After several years of Houston heat and rain, the factory hinges begin to bind, and the latch strike plate shifts. Our fix replaces the hardware with marine-grade stainless, which holds up far better against the salt and moisture in our air.

Jerith Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

A remodeled family room with new windows and a window seat

We source Jerith-matched aluminum pickets, rails, post caps, and touch-up paint from US aluminum extrusion distributors rather than offshore generics. That matters because Jerith’s picket profile and rail notch dimensions are proprietary. A generic picket from a big-box store will not seat properly in the notched rail, and the gap will show. We match the exact half-inch profile and the correct RAL powder coat color, most commonly black RAL 9005 or bronze, so the repair disappears into the original fence line.

Our default is repair when the structure is sound. Swapping individual pickets, re-setting posts, or realigning a gate costs a fraction of full replacement, and we will tell you honestly when it is the right call. We recommend full replacement when the original powder coat has failed on more than 30% of the fence, or when post concrete has heaved beyond leveling. At that point, chasing individual failures costs more than a clean reinstall. For an exact recommendation on your fence, call (254) 272-5240, our estimates are free.

Our Jerith Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We walk the full fence line with you, marking every picket, rail, post, and gate that needs attention. We look specifically for the failure modes Houston is known for: notch corrosion, bottom-rail oxidation, gate drift, and post movement on clay soil.
  2. 2
Repair or install. For repairs, we remove only the damaged pickets and rails, prepare the bare aluminum properly, and install matched parts. For new Jerith installation, we set posts in concrete at the correct depth for Houston’s clay soil, which means going below the active movement zone.
  3. 3
Test. Every gate gets opened and closed repeatedly. Pool-code gates get checked for self-closing and self-latching function per BOCA requirements. We check post plumb, rail level, and picket spacing.
  4. 4
Warranty and clean-up. Our workmanship is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and every Jerith manufacturer warranty that applies to the materials stays with the product. We take a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves, every single time.

Jerith Products We Service & Install in Houston

We service and install the full Jerith aluminum fence line in Houston: the standard residential series in 4-foot to 6-foot picket styles, including Miami/Dade-rated options for hurricane-wind zones; the Jerith Estate Series, with its heavier picket profile and substantial frame for larger lots; Jerith pool-code fences built to BOCA compliance; and General Contractor-grade aluminum fence for property lines that need more than standard residential. We stock locally the common picket profiles, post caps, gate hardware, and touch-up paints for most Jerith colorways, which means many repairs do not wait on a freight shipment.

We Also Service These Brands

While Jerith is a fence line we know deeply in Houston, our crews work across multiple manufacturers. We also install and service KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler fixtures. That multi-brand depth means we are not tied to one manufacturer’s solution when a different product would serve your home better, and it means we see how different materials interact on a Houston property.
