Jerith Driveway & Pavers: The Houston Owner’s Guide
If you have a Jerith driveway gate or aluminum fence with paver work around it in Houston, and a section has failed, settled, or separated, you’re not alone. We stock Jerith-compatible driveway gate parts and work with paver crews across the Houston area to bring gate bases, post footings, and apron pavers back to factory alignment. A typical Jerith driveway post reset with paver repair in Houston runs $700 to $2,800 depending on gate weight and how much of the paver bed needs to be re-laid. Most owners discover the problem the same way: the gate starts dragging across the pavers, or a section of pavers sinks next to a post and the gate sags off its hinge line.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To
Jerith manufactures aluminum and steel residential driveway gates under model lines that include the Estate, Regal, and Sentry series, along with pairing hardware kits for the matching fence panels. The part compatibility depends less on the gate model and more on two measurements you can take yourself: the hinge post diameter and the gate leaf width. Most Jerith single-swing driveway gates use a 2-inch square or 2.5-inch square post, while double-swing gates up to 16 feet carry a 4-inch square post. The OEM hinges and post caps are made specifically for those post profiles, so an aftermarket hinge that fits a generic fence post will almost always sit too loose or too tight on a Jerith post. For the paver side, Jerith’s spec sheets call for a 4-inch compacted base under the swing path, and in Houston’s clay soil that base is where we see nine out of ten failures. We recommend OEM Jerith hardware whenever it’s available, and we source quality aftermarket equivalents only for the paver base materials, never for the gate hinges or post caps. Elmstead Remodeling Houston is an independent contractor, not a Jerith dealer or affiliate.

Signs Your Jerith Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- The gate scrapes the pavers near the latch side. This usually means the hinge post has settled or the paver bed has heaved from Houston’s freeze-thaw and clay expansion cycles. The gate leaf drops, and the latch no longer lines up with the receiver.
- Pavers around a post are sinking or tilting. Water has gotten under the paver base next to the post footing, which means the sub-base was under-compacted or the drainage was never directed away from the post. In Houston’s heavy rain months, this accelerates fast.
- The gate sags off its hinge line and needs to be lifted to close. This is a hinge or post issue, not usually a paver issue. Jerith hinges carry the gate on a pin, and once the pin wears or the post shifts, the geometry is gone.
- You hear a grinding or scraping sound when opening. The gate leaf is contacting either the pavers or the post cap. If you keep running it this way, you’ll wear a groove into the aluminum and eventually need a leaf replacement, not just a hardware fix.
- Post caps are loose, cracked, or missing. Jerith post caps are plastic or aluminum depending on the series, and Houston sun breaks the plastic ones down within about six to eight years. A missing cap lets water sit inside the post, which rusts the hardware below.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Jerith driveway gate post reset with paver repair around the post, we tell Houston homeowners to budget $700 to $1,800 if it’s a single post and the paver damage is limited to a small section. If both hinge posts need re-setting or the entire paver swing path needs re-leveling, the job typically lands between $1,500 and $2,800. The range depends on gate weight, whether we’re re-using the existing pavers or sourcing replacements, and how much of the sub-base has to be excavated and re-compacted. Every quote we write is a fixed number, given to you in writing before any work starts, and it includes the parts, the labor, the base material, and the clean-up. We warranty the work for 365 days under the Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. No change orders, no price moving after the crew arrives.
DIY or Call Us?
Some things an owner can safely check: whether the post caps are cracked, whether pavers are visibly rocking underfoot, and whether the gate leaf clears the paver surface by at least two inches at the latch side. But re-setting a Jerith driveway post with a gate hanging on it is not a weekend job. The gate leaf is heavy, the post is under tension from the hinge load, and a post that falls can injure someone. We have done these replacements on Meyerland driveways and garage conversions near the Energy Corridor, and the ones that go sideways are always the ones where somebody tried to pull a post without bracing the gate first. Graham Stein, our owner, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent years running crews that keep job sites organized for families. If the gate is heavy or the pavers have shifted, call us at (254) 272-5240. We’ll come out, look at the post, and give you a written price before anything gets touched.
FAQs

A properly installed Jerith aluminum driveway gate should last 15 to 20 years, and the paver base under the swing path should last 10 to 15 years in Houston before drainagage or clay movement starts to show. The hinges and post caps usually wear out first, which is why we check those on every call. Call (254) 272-5240 for an inspection and a written quote.
Yes, in most Houston cases we can excavate only the affected section, re-compact the base, and re-lay the original pavers, so the repair stays local and the rest of the driveway is untouched. The exception is when the pavers themselves are cracked or the pattern is discontinued and we can’t source matches. We’ll tell you that before any work starts, with a fixed price.
Most single-post resets with paver repair take one day on site, and that includes removing the affected pavers, re-compacting the base, re-setting the post, re-hanging the gate, and cleaning up. Double-gate jobs with a full swing-path re-level may take two days. We give you the written price and schedule before any work begins.
We keep common Jerith-compatible hinge pins, post caps, and gate hardware on our trucks, and we source OEM Jerith parts for model-specific items when needed. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for other home projects, but for driveway gates we stick to OEM Jerith parts because aftermarket hinges are the most common source of repeat failures we see.
