Techo-Bloc Fence Installation: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Techo-Bloc fence installation in Houston typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed, depending on the panel system, linear footage, and whether we’re replacing failed sections or setting a full perimeter. We stock Techo-Bloc-compatible fence panels, posts, and base courses on the truck for most common Houston applications, which means we can usually diagnose and start the same week. Most Houston owners discover a problem the hard way: a post starts leaning after a heavy spring rain, or a panel shifts out of square because the base course settled into our clay soil.
If you’re reading this, you probably already know the Techo-Bloc fence system you bought is engineered differently than a pressure-treated pine or ornamental iron fence. The panels are concrete, the posts are set in a specific base, and the failure points are almost always in what’s underneath the fence, not the panel itself. That’s the part most fence contractors in Houston get wrong. We don’t.
A written price and a covered floor before any work begins – that is where the trust starts.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc makes several fence and screen wall systems, and the installation details differ between them. The two we see most often in Houston are the Blu 60 and Blu 80 slatted fence panels, plus the Semma and Borealis lines for screen walls and privacy partitions. Each uses a concrete panel that fits into extruded aluminum or steel posts, and the posts sit on a compacted aggregate base, not a poured concrete footing the way a wood fence post would.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha we run into constantly: Techo-Bloc fence posts are manufactured to a specific depth and base width, and if your original installer cut corners on the granular base, the post will begin to lean within two to three Houston summers. The panel itself is almost never the problem. It’s what the post is sitting on. When we arrive, we check the post spacing against the panel width, we verify the base material depth, and we match any replacement panel to the original series by measuring the slat profile, not by guessing from a photo.
Elmstead Remodeling Houston is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Techo-Bloc. We install their systems with the same care we bring to a KraftMaid cabinet line or a Cambria countertop: the manufacturer’s spec, followed exactly, with a written price before any work starts.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts tilting outward or inward. This is almost always a base course failure, not a post failure. Houston’s clay soil expands and contracts with moisture, and a base that wasn’t compacted in lifts will settle unevenly. The post follows the settlement.
- Panels rattling in high wind. Techo-Bloc panels are designed to sit snug in the post channels. If they rattle, the post spacing has drifted, or the panel was forced into a channel it wasn’t cut for. Wind load on a 6-foot concrete panel is significant, and a loose panel is a hazard in Houston’s storm season.
- Visible cracks at the post base or panel corners. Concrete panels handle compression well but not twisting. If the post shifted and the panel twisted, hairline cracks appear at the corners first.
- Water pooling at the fence line after rain. Good installation includes a drainage path so water doesn’t sit against the base course. Standing water softens the aggregate and shortens the life of the whole run.
- Fence line no longer straight when viewed from the street. A straight Techo-Bloc fence is a sign of a properly set base. A wavy line means multiple posts are moving, and the longer you wait, the more the panels bind against each other.
Techo-Bloc Fence Repair vs Replacement: What Actually Costs What in Houston

Before you commit to a full replacement, it helps to understand what kind of Techo-Bloc repair you’re actually looking at. In Houston, we price fence work by the failure mode, not by the square foot of fencing alone.
- Single post reset: $450 – $850. Includes pulling the post, recompacting the base in lifts, resetting, and re-securing the panel.
- Panel replacement (one to three panels): $800 – $2,800. Includes matching the original Techo-Bloc series, cutting to fit, and resetting any posts that show movement.
- Full fence line reset (10 – 20 linear feet): $1,200 – $3,700. When multiple posts have shifted, we reset the entire base rather than chasing individual posts.
- Full Techo-Bloc fence installation (new build): $3,500 – $9,000. Depends on linear footage, post spacing, access, and whether we’re pulling an old wood fence first.
The single biggest cost driver is what’s underground. If the original base was done wrong, we’re not going to set new posts on top of it. We excavate, compact properly, and set the base the way the Techo-Bloc spec calls for. That’s the difference between a fence that lasts five years in Houston and one that’s still straight in fifteen.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a full Techo-Bloc fence installation in Houston, you’re looking at $3,500 – $9,000. That range covers the base course, posts, panels, cutting, disposal of the old fence if there is one, and the labor to set everything square and level. What drives the price up: longer runs, tight access that requires hand-carrying panels to the back yard, existing fence removal, and any Houston-specific drainage work we need to add so water doesn’t sit at the base.
Every quote is written before work starts. That includes the parts, the labor, the clean-up, and the disposal. We don’t come back with a change order because the base was worse than expected. Graham Stein has been running jobs in Houston long enough to know that the soil surprises show up on day one, not day five. We price for it in the written quote. And if the install isn’t done right, our 365-Day Done Right Promise means we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things yourself. Walk the fence line with a level and mark which posts are out of plumb. Look for standing water after a rain. Tap the panels and listen for movement. That gives us a faster diagnosis when we arrive.
What you should not do is excavate and reset a post yourself. A 6-foot concrete Techo-Bloc panel is heavy, and if a post is compromised, the panel can shift while you’re working on the base. That’s a crush hazard. We use proper bracing, panel lifts, and compaction equipment that most Houston homeowners don’t keep in the garage. This is one of those jobs where the safest call is scheduling a free estimate and letting our crew handle the heavy lifting. Call (254) 272-5240 and we’ll send someone out to look.
FAQs
A Techo-Bloc fence installed with a properly compacted base should last 20 to 30 years in Houston’s climate, but the base course is the deciding factor. Houston’s expansive clay soil shortens the life of any fence set on an improper base. Panels themselves hold up well; it’s the posts and what’s under them that fail early.
In most cases we can repair one section by resetting the affected posts and replacing damaged panels. The exception is when multiple posts along the same run have shifted, which usually means the original base course was inadequate everywhere. Call (254) 272-5240 for an honest read on what you’re looking at; estimates are free.
A typical Houston installation runs two to four days, depending on how many posts need resetting and whether we’re removing an old fence first. We set a schedule in the written quote and stick to it, with quiet tools during the family’s rest hours where possible.
We stock Techo-Bloc-compatible fence panels, posts, and base materials for the most common Houston installations. If your project needs a specific series we don’t have on the truck, we’ll order it and include the lead time in your written price before we start.
