Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Houston Owner’s Guide
If you have a Cover kitchen in Houston and part of it has failed, we install Cover-compatible kitchen remodeling components with a typical installed price ranging from $14,000 to $45,000 depending on scope, materials, and how much of the existing structure we’re working around. Most owners discover a problem the way you just did: a cabinet door that no longer sits flush, a countertop seam that has opened, or a drawer slide that grinds no matter how many times you adjust it. Here’s what we know about Cover kitchens in Houston, and exactly how we’d diagnose and fix yours.
A written price and a covered floor before any work begins – that is where the trust starts.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover’s kitchen line varies by build year and the builder or contractor who originally installed it. We regularly work on Cover kitchens in Houston from the 2018 forward model years, including the standard Cover cabinet frame series and their deeper-drawer lower configurations. The compatibility point that matters most is cabinet box construction and the hardware mounting pattern. Cover used a 3/4-inch plywood box on most runs, but some earlier builds in Houston’s townhome and patio-home developments used a 5/8-inch particleboard side panel, which changes how replacement hinges seat and how much weight an installed pull-out can carry. If you can find the cabinet manufacturer label inside a sink base door or on the back of a drawer face, that gets us to the right part faster than anything else.
For hardware replacement, we stock OEM Cover-compatible hinges and soft-close slides on our trucks when we’re doing a kitchen job, and in most cases we can match the original hole pattern without drilling new ones. Where OEM parts are no longer available for older Cover installs, we use Blum or Salice aftermarket equivalents that match the original mounting footprint, and we tell you before we order them. We also stock Cover-compatible countertop edge profiles from Cambria and Silestone, plus cabinet lines from KraftMaid and Wellborn when the job calls for replacing a whole run rather than a single door.

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors won’t stay closed or sit crooked. This usually means the hinge plate has loosened from the cabinet side or the hinge itself has worn past adjustment. On Cover kitchens in Houston, the humidity cycle from wet summers to dry winters accelerates this, especially in homes without whole-house dehumidification.
- Drawers grind, stick, or drop on one side. Cover’s older slide hardware can lose its ball bearings after years of daily use. The drawer may still function, but the slide is eating into the drawer box, and that gets more expensive to fix the longer it runs.
- Countertop seam has opened or a laminate edge is lifting. Houston’s heat and humidity will do this to any adhered edge over time. If the substrate under the seam is still dry and sound, it’s a re-seam job. If moisture has gotten in, the affected section needs to come out.
- Soft-close mechanism has stopped working on multiple doors. This is often a sign the original Cover hinge dampers were undersized for the door weight. A single failure is normal wear. Three or four failures across the kitchen usually means the hinge spec was wrong from the start.
- Base cabinet floor feels soft or sags under the sink. Water finds its way in eventually, either from a slow drain leak or condensation in Houston’s humid air. If the cabinet floor deflects when you press on it, we need to assess whether the box can be reinforced or needs replacing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Houston kitchens, Cover-compatible remodeling work typically runs from $14,000 to $45,000. The range breaks down like this: a focused repair or single-run replacement (like fixing one failed cabinet bank or replacing a countertop section) lands at the lower end, while a full Cover kitchen remodel with new cabinet boxes, countertops, hardware, and backsplash sits at the upper end. What drives the price most is whether we’re replacing components or rebuilding the whole kitchen, which materials you choose, and whether plumbing or electrical needs to move.
Every job gets a written price before any work starts. That price includes the parts, the labor, the drop cloths and shoe covers on every visit, and the clean-up photo before the crew leaves. We don’t do estimates that grow after the crew arrives. If you want to see the line items first, call us and we’ll walk you through the scope item by item.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: whether hinges have visible screws that have backed out, whether a drawer slide is loose at the cabinet side, and whether any water staining is spreading. What we don’t recommend is attempting to re-hang cabinet doors on Cover’s concealed hinges without the right template, or trying to cut and re-seam a countertop. The first one is frustrating; the second can ruin a slab. Countertop work in particular involves silica dust and a wet saw, and that is work for a professional with the right setup.
If you’ve found the failing part and want to know exactly what it will cost to make the kitchen right again, call (254) 272-5240. We’ll talk through what you’re seeing, give you a straight answer on the part, and schedule a time to come look.
FAQs

Cover kitchen cabinets and hardware generally last 12 to 18 years in Houston before hinges, slides, or box joints begin to show meaningful wear, and the humidity cycle in this part of Texas tends to shorten that toward the lower end if a home runs without consistent climate control. Call (254) 272-5240 and we can assess what you’re seeing to tell you whether you’re at the end of the run or just looking at one failed part.
Many individual failures can be repaired, including a worn hinge, a failed soft-close damper, a separated countertop seam, or a single sagging drawer box, and that’s always the first option we look at. If the cabinet box itself has water damage or the drawer slide has chewed through the side panel, replacement is the honest answer, and we’ll show you why with the part in hand.
A focused repair like a hinge or slide swap is usually done in one visit, while a full Cover kitchen remodel runs four to eight weeks depending on countertop fabrication lead times and how much plumbing or electrical work is in the scope. We’ll give you a written timeline with the written price so you know exactly what to expect.
Yes, our Houston crews carry Cover-compatible hinges, soft-close slides, and common door sizes on most kitchen jobs, which means many single-part failures are fixed on the first visit. For less common Cover hardware or full cabinet runs, we order from KraftMaid, Wellborn, or our hardware suppliers and give you the lead time before we start.
