Belgard Fence Installation: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Belgard fence installation in Houston typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete project, depending on linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re matching an existing run or building new from the property line. We stock Belgard-compatible posts, panels, post caps, and gate hardware, and we can usually start a fence job within a week of the written estimate. Most Houston owners find us when a single failed post or gate latch has compromised an otherwise solid fence, and they want it matched correctly rather than patched with whatever fits.
What you usually notice first is a gate that drags, a post that leans after a hard rain, or a panel that rattles in wind it used to ignore. These are not cosmetic issues. In Houston’s clay-heavy soil, a compromised post base or a corroded metal insert fails progressively, and the rest of the fence carries the load until something cracks.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

We install and repair across the Belgard fence lines most common in Houston: the Belgard Elements modular fence system, the Belgard Weston stone-faced panels, and the newer Belgard Dimensions concrete fence blocks. Each has a different post-and-panel anchoring system, and this is where compatibility trips up a lot of owners. The Elements system uses a galvanized post insert that slides into the block’s internal channel; the Dimensions line uses a different post spacing and a heavier base course. If you have the original Belgard plan sheet or can find the stamp on the bottom of a panel, we can match it in one visit without guesswork.
One gotcha worth knowing: Belgard changed the post cap profile on the Elements line around 2019. Older panels accept a flat cap with a lip; newer ones use the updated interlocking cap. Ordering the wrong cap is the single most common compatability error we see, and it’s a ten-minute fix to correct if we catch it before order placement. For aftermarket, quality alternatives exist for caps and gate hardware, but we prefer OEM Belgard for any load-bearing post or panel component. The concrete mix and aggregate are matched to the anchoring system, and an aftermarket post rarely has the same drainage channels.

Signs Your Belgard Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or won’t close square. The post base has shifted in Houston’s expansive clay, or the hinge hardware has worn past adjustment. Continuing to force the gate accelerates both.
- Post leaning after rain. Water has undermined the post footing, or the base course was set without proper drainage gravel. Once a post moves more than an inch off plumb, the panel joints above it begin to crack.
- Cracks at panel corners or mid-panel. This is usually freeze-thaw or soil movement stress, not impact damage. Belgard concrete panels are durable, but Houston’s wet-dry cycles expose any flaw in the base prep.
- White crust or rust staining below caps. Water is pooling inside the hollow post channels. That standing water corrodes the galvanized insert and, in a deep freeze, can split the post.
- Loose caps that rattle in wind. The interlock has worn or the cap was the wrong generation for the panel. Left loose, the cap channels water directly into the post.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Belgard fence installation on a typical Houston lot sits between $3,500 and $9,000. The spread comes down to three things: linear feet of fence, how many gates we’re setting, and whether the soil at your property needs more aggressive post base prep. A short run with one gate on clay soil that drains well will sit at the lower end. A long perimeter with two walk gates and a driveway gate, where we’re drilling deeper footings and adding drainage gravel, lands at the higher end.
Our written price includes the Belgard-compatible materials, removal of the failed section, post base prep with drainage material appropriate for your soil, panel and gate installation, and clean-up. It also includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a post shifts or a cap loosens within a year of the completed job, we make it right. We give you that written price before any crew sets foot on the property, and it does not change once work starts.

What you can safely check on your own: gate hinge tightness, cap alignment, and whether the weep holes at the base of each post are clear of soil and debris. Fifteen minutes with a level and a socket wrench will tell you a lot. What you should not do is reset a leaning post by hand. A Belgard post with the panel load on it weighs hundreds of pounds, and once it’s off plumb, it can shift suddenly. We’ve taken jobs where a homeowner dug out around a post to “straighten it” and the whole section came down on the fence line.
If the issue is a cap or a hinge, swap away if you’re confident in the part match. If a post or base course is involved, call (254) 272-5240. We’ll give you a written price for the repair before any digging begins.
FAQs

A correctly installed Belgard fence lasts 25 to 40 years in Houston’s climate, with the posts and base prep being the limiting factor rather than the panels. Panels rarely fail on their own; when a Houston Belgard fence fails early, it’s almost always because water sat inside the post channels or the base settled in expansive clay.
A hairline crack can often be stabilized with a concrete adhesive, but a crack wider than a nickel or any crack at a corner joint means the panel’s structural connection is compromised and the panel should be replaced. Patching concrete without addressing the movement that caused the crack is temporary.
Most Belmont-type installations take one to two days for a typical run on a Houston lot, not counting any time needed for the base to set if we’re doing deeper footings. We’ll tell you before we start whether the job is one day or needs an overnight set.
We keep common caps, post inserts, and gate hardware on hand for the Belgard lines we service most often in Houston, and we order model-specific panels and posts from the manufacturer with a one-to-two-week lead time. For a match on an older generation, we’ll confirm the cap style and panel stamp before we order. Call (254) 272-5240 and we’ll tell you what’s in stock for your model.
