Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The Houston Owner’s Guide
We install and service Cambria quartz bathroom surfaces throughout Houston, with full bathroom remodels running $9,000 – $28,000 depending on scope, and Cambria-specific vanity tops, shower surrounds, and tub decks typically falling in the $2,000 – $6,500 range. Most Cambria surface issues in Houston bathrooms stem from one of three things: improper seam placement, failed undermount sink adhesion, or movement under the slab from humidity-driven framing shifts. When a Cambria surface fails, homeowners usually discover it as a hairline crack near the sink bowl, a seam that has opened up, or a slab that no longer sits flat against the vanity.
Elmstead Remodeling Houston is an independent contractor, not affiliated with Cambria, but we work with their quartz on bathroom projects across Meyerland, the Heights, Bellaire, Katy, and Sugar Land every month. Before any estimate, we give you a written price. Before any work starts, the drop cloths go down and the shoe covers go on. That’s how Graham Stein runs the Houston crew, and it’s been that way since he brought the trade here from Southern California.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

We work with the full Cambria quartz line, including the most common bathroom series in Houston homes: Brittanicca, Torquay, Ella, Portrush, Summerhill, and the darker slabs like Blackwood and Ironsbridge. The design name matters less than the slab’s gauge and edge profile, which is where compatibility problems surface. Cambria slabs run in 1 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm thicknesses. Bathroom vanities almost always use 2 cm or 3 cm, and it matters. A 3 cm slab can carry its own edge profile without lamination. A 2 cm slab typically needs a laminated or built-up edge to look right, especially on a floating vanity.
If you are matching a failed piece, there is one gotcha we check before anything else: Cambria quartz patterns shift between production runs. A slab of Brittanicca poured in 2018 will not match a slab poured in 2024 exactly. The veining pattern, the density of the fleck, the background tone, all of it drifts. If you are replacing a cracked vanity top only and the rest of the bathroom is original, expect a slight pattern variation. We will bring sample chips from current Cambria stock to your home so you can see the difference in your own lighting before we order. For aftermarket alternatives, we can also quote Silestone and Caesarstone options that hold up similarly in a Houston bathroom. Some homeowners go that route when the original Cambria pattern has changed too much for their liking.
We also stock and install bathroom parts that travel with a Cambria remodel: Kohler and Moen faucets, Schluter waterproofing for shower surrounds, and KraftMaid vanity bases. That means the slab, the sink, the faucet, and the substrate are all ordered by the same crew, which is where seam and fit problems get caught early.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Remodel Is Failing
- Hairline crack radiating from the sink cutout. This is the most common failure in Houston, and it almost always traces back to the undermount sink pulling away from the slab. Once the silicone bond flexes, daily use stresses the quartz around the cutout until it fissures.
- Seam opening up or discoloring. Cambria seams are filled with color-matched epoxy. When a vanity settles or the cabinet pulls away from the wall, the seam can separate. Discoloration usually means water has been sitting in a hairline gap long enough to stain the fill.
- Slab rocking or no longer sitting flat. Houston clay soil moves. Framing shifts. A vanity installed level in year one can be a quarter inch out in year five. That movement transfers directly into the quartz above it.
- Faucet area showing dark rings or mineral buildup that cleans off, then returns. That recurrence signals a slow leak at the deck or the supply connection that has been wicking under the slab edge. The quartz itself is fine; the installation around it is not.
- Edge profile chipping at the front corners. This is the one we see most often in bathrooms shared by kids. A 3 cm eased edge is durable, but sharp-cornered edges like a straight polish chip easily when a drawer, a toy, or a vacuum catches it just right.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Cambria bathroom remodeling project in Houston, here is what you can expect across different scopes:
- Cambria vanity top replacement: $2,000 – $6,500 installed, depending on slab size, edge profile, sink style, and whether we are pulling a single or double bowl
- Cambria tub deck or shower threshold work: $1,500 – $4,000, often paired with a larger bathroom scope
- Full bathroom remodel with Cambria surfaces: $9,000 – $28,000, covering demolition, Schluter waterproofing, slab fabrication and install, fixtures, and finishes
What drives the range is straightforward. Larger slabs mean more material and more seam work. A 3 cm slab with a simple eased edge costs less to fabricate than a 2 cm slab with a laminated ogee. Removing a failed slab without damaging the cabinet below takes time, especially when the undermount sink has been epoxied by a previous installer who used too much. And every Houston job includes the same non-negotiables: a written price before any work starts, shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. If the finished work is not right, our 365-Day Done Right Promise means we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
Cambria quartz itself is not a dangerous material to handle the way garage-door springs or electrical panels are. The risk in a bathroom remodel is not the slab, it is the waterproofing underneath. Removing a Cambria vanity top by yourself means disconnecting plumbing, breaking the silicone bond, and lifting a slab that can weigh over 150 pounds. One slip damages the cabinet, the floor, or someone’s hands. What we tell Houston homeowners they can safely do on their own: take photos of the failure, notate the model name on the underside of the slab (Cambria etchings are usually visible near a back corner), and measure the vanity top dimensions. That gives us a head start on the estimate. What we recommend against: prying up a cracked slab, cutting into the cabinet, or running water tests on a seam that might be leaking into the vanity base.
If you are not sure whether the issue is the Cambria surface or the cabinetry below it, call us. Graham would rather spend twenty minutes on the phone looking at your photos than have you discover a hidden moisture problem three months from now at twice the cost.
FAQs

Cambria quartz carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and the material itself should outlast the bathroom around it. In Houston, the practical lifespan of a Cambria bathroom installation is usually 20 to 30 years before the surrounding cabinetry, grout, or waterproofing needs attention, assuming the slab was installed correctly and the home does not experience foundation movement.
Small chips and edge damage can be color-matched and filled by a qualified fabricator. A full crack that runs through the slab cannot be repaired to hold weight safely, especially around a sink cutout where daily stress concentrates. Call (254) 272-5240 and we will look at photos of the damage and tell you which category you are in before you spend a dime.
A vanity top replacement typically takes one to two days on site once the slab is fabricated. A full bathroom remodel with Cambria surfaces usually runs two to five weeks, depending on scope, with fabrication happening off-site and quiet work scheduled around your family’s daily rhythm. We schedule the loudest cutting and demo during school hours where we can, and we ask before moving anything that belongs to your kids or pets.
We do not stock completed Cambria slabs at the Houston shop. Quartz is fabricated to order at partner facilities that keep current Cambria sample inventory. We do stock the supporting parts on our trucks and in our warehouse: Schluter waterproofing, Kohler and Moen faucet hardware, sink clips, seam epoxy, and undermount adhesives. That means the parts most likely to delay a job are already on hand when the slab arrives. Call (254) 272-5240 for a free estimate, and we will give you a written price before any work begins.
