Delta Bathroom Remodeling: The Houston Owner’s Guide

We install and service Delta fixtures in bathrooms across Houston, with most Delta-focused bathroom remodels running between $9,000 and $28,000 depending on scope. Most homeowners discover a Delta part has failed through a slow drip, a cartridge that won’t hold temperature, or a finish that has started to pit. The good news is that Delta’s design means most failures are isolated to a specific replaceable component rather than the entire fixture, which keeps repair costs far below replacement in most cases.

If you’re in Meyerland, West University, the Heights, or anywhere in the Houston metro, we keep the most common Delta repair parts on the truck: RP25513 cartridges for single-handle faucets, RP19804 valve assemblies for showers, and RP3614 O-ring kits for widespread lavatory faucets. Elmstead Remodeling Houston is an independent service provider and we are not affiliated with Delta Faucet Company, but we’ve installed and repaired enough Delta product lines over the years to know their compatibility quirks well.

Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta’s bathroom lineup splits into several series lines, and the replacement part you need depends on which one you have. The most common in Houston homes are the Classic 400 series (widely installed in builder-grade and apartment bathrooms), the Cassidy series (very common in master baths built in the last 10 to 15 years), the Trinsic and Vero series (newer construction, often paired with black or brushed nickel finishes), and the Dryden series (frequent in older Heights and Montrose homes that were updated in the 2000s).

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners run into: Delta changed the internal cartridge design between the older MultiChoice valve bodies and the newer Universal Valve bodies around 2018. A cartridge from a 2019 Trinsic won’t seat correctly in a 2010 Cassidy valve, even though both handles say “Delta.” The easiest way to identify what you need is to remove the handle and look for the model number stamped on the trim plate or on the cartridge itself. That number tells us exactly which valve body you have, and from there we can match the right OEM part. For older models where Delta has discontinued a finish, quality aftermarket equivalents from Danco or Plumb Pak are available, but for anything inside the valve body, we recommend genuine Delta parts. The tolerances matter, and a leak from an ill-fitting aftermarket cartridge is the kind of thing we’d rather prevent than chase down later.

Signs Your Delta Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • A drip from the spout that never quite stops. This is almost always the cartridge. In Houston’s water, mineral deposits will eventually score grooves in the ceramic disc, and the drip gets louder and more persistent as the grooves deepen.
  • Water temperature that shifts suddenly in the middle of a shower. The pressure-balancing spool inside the valve cartridge has worn or seized. You’ll notice it most when someone flushes a toilet or starts the washing machine, and suddenly the shower goes hot or cold.
  • A handle that gets progressively harder to turn. This is sediment buildup on the cartridge stem working into the body. Left alone, the handle can eventually seize completely, and at that point the repair gets more involved than a simple cartridge swap.
  • Black flecks or blue-green streaks in the water when you first turn it on. Rubber O-rings and washers are breaking down inside the valve. The blue-green means copper corrosion from a pinhole leak somewhere upstream, but the rubber flecks are the immediate tell.
  • A slow drip under the sink, or a spongy spot in the cabinet floor. The supply lines or the drain assembly are failing. In kitchens and bathrooms we see this in Meyerland and Bellaire homes especially because of the age of the original plumbing.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Delta bathroom remodel in Houston, you’re looking at $9,000 to $28,000 depending on the scope. A simple fixture swap, cartridge replacement, and trim update runs at the lower end. Moving drain lines, replacing the valve body, retiling the shower, and adding a new vanity pushes it toward $18,000 to $28,000. Below is the breakdown we use when we write a price:

Work Item Typical Houston Range
Delta cartridge or valve replacement (parts included) $200 – $600
Delta trim kit update (finish change, handles, escutcheon) $150 – $800
Full Delta fixture replacement: tub/shower valve, trim, tub spout, showerhead $600 – $1,800
Tub-to-shower conversion with Delta valve and new tile $3,500 – $10,000
Complete bathroom remodel: Delta fixtures, tile, vanity, countertop, flooring $9,000 – $28,000

Every one of these numbers is a written price before any work starts. We don’t write estimates that grow after the crew is already in your house. The parts are line-itemed, the labor is line-itemed, and the warranty on our work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t done right after the job is complete, we come back and make it right. That’s not a verbal assurance, it’s written into the project documents.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check on your own: whether your Delta faucet has a model number visible on the trim plate or cartridge (it helps us have the right part on the truck), and whether the shut-off valves under the sink actually turn. A stuck shut-off valve is a real problem we’d want to know about before we start, because it changes the scope of the job.

What we don’t recommend trying yourself: cartridge removal on an older valve body, or any work on the shower valve behind the trim plate. Water damage from a botched cartridge pull is the most common reason our Houston clients end up with drywall repairs they did not budget for. The parts can require a specific removal tool, and if the cartridge breaks off inside the body, the fix is hours longer. If you want the job done once, call us at (254) 272-5240. We’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician, and you’ll get a written price before we touch a wrench.
