Delta Driveway & Pavers: The Houston Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Delta-compatible driveway and paver components across Houston, with typical replacement work landing between $250 and $18,000 depending on whether you’re sealing an existing surface, replacing a failing section, or rebuilding the whole driveway. Same-week scheduling is standard once we confirm the Delta part match. Most Houston homeowners call us after noticing surface spalling on concrete pavers, shifting edges along the driveway apron, or standing water that wasn’t there two summers ago. The clay-heavy soils in neighborhoods like Meyerland, Spring Branch, and Cypress expand and contract hard through our wet-dry cycles, and Delta pavers sit right on top of that movement.
One thing to know before you read further: we are an independent Houston service provider. We install and service Delta-compatible driveway and paver products, but we are not affiliated with Delta as a manufacturer. When your original Delta part is still under its manufacturer warranty, we’ll help you document the failure and point you toward the right channel. When it isn’t, we’ll source the exact replacement or a quality equivalent and stand behind our installation with the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta’s residential driveway and paver line runs across three main series: the Permeable Paver line (open-graded joints for drainage), the Estate Paver line (dense interlock, higher compressive strength), and the DriveGrid system (a paver-and-tray hybrid used mostly in new-build driveways around the Energy Corridor and Katy). The compatibility gotcha most Houston owners run into is joint width. Delta’s Permeable line is engineered for 3/8-inch aggregate joints; the Estate line wants sand-set joints at half that width. Mixing the joint material between series voids the manufacturer’s drainage warranty and causes the same shifting you were trying to fix in the first place.
To identify your exact Delta part, flip over a loose paver if you can. Delta stamps the series code and mold number on the underside, usually a two-letter prefix like PE (Permeable Estate) or DG (DriveGrid), followed by a four-digit mold ID. If the stamp is worn or you can’t lift a paver without risking the surrounding field, measure the paver’s thickness at the edge: Permeable runs 80mm, Estate runs 60mm or 80mm depending on traffic rating, and DriveGrid trays are 40mm above the grid base. We stock the most common Delta molds on our truck, and for unusual color lots or retired molds we’ll source the replacement and confirm the dye-lot match before ordering. In our experience, OEM Delta pavers are worth the premium when you’re patching an existing field because aftermarket color matching across different manufacturers is genuinely unpredictable after two Houston summers of UV.

Signs Your Delta Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Surface spalling or flaking on paver faces. Houston’s freeze-thaw cycles are brief but real, and any paver that absorbed moisture during a wet spring will shed its top layer when a January cold snap hits. This is more common on older Delta runs made before their current sealant blend. We see it most on north-facing driveways in Kingwood that never fully dry out.
- Joint sand washing out after heavy rain. If you notice sand collecting at the low end of your driveway after every storm, your paver field is working loose. On Delta Estate pavers, that means the bond between joint sand and the paver sides has broken down, and every subsequent rain makes it worse. Left alone, the pavers start to drift within a season.
- Low spots that hold water for more than an hour after rain. This is a base-layer failure, not a paver failure. The pavers are fine; the compacted aggregate underneath has settled or eroded. In Houston’s clay soil, we regularly see this under driveway aprons where gutter downspouts discharge too close to the paver edge.
- Edging constraints pulling away or snapping. Delta recommends aluminum or steel edging for their residential lines in expansive soils. Plastic edging gets brittle in Houston’s heat and fails at the anchors, usually within three to five years. Once the edge lets go, the outer course of pavers starts migrating into the lawn.
- Efflorescence, a white chalky film that won’t brush off. This is mineral salt wicking up through the paver body, common in Delta’s lighter color lines after Houston’s groundwater moves through the base. It’s cosmetic, not structural, but it signals high moisture content under the pavers, which usually means a drainage issue is already working underground.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Houston, sealing a Delta driveway runs $250 to $700. Replacing a failed section of pavers, including matching, base repair, and re-sanding, lands between $3,500 and $11,000 depending on square footage and the base work required. A full Delta paver driveway installation in Houston runs $7,000 to $18,000, and if the base has failed completely, a full driveway replacement lands between $5,000 and $14,000 regardless of surface material. Those Houston numbers assume standard access and no major tree-root excavation.
Every quote we give is a written price before any work starts. That’s not an estimate that might drift upward when the crew arrives; it is the price. It includes the Delta parts, the base material, the labor, the edging, the joint material, and the clean-up. It includes shoe covers and drop cloths wherever the crew walks through your home to access the driveway, which on paver jobs is usually through the garage. And it includes a photo of the finished, cleaned site before the crew leaves, so you have a record of exactly how the property was left.
DIY or Call Us?
A homeowner can safely inspect a Delta driveway without calling anyone. Walk the field after a rain and mark every low spot with a piece of tape. Check the edging anchors with a gentle kick. Sweep a joint and see if the sand comes out dry or muddy. Those observations are genuinely useful and they’ll help you decide what actually needs doing before you spend a dollar.
Where DIY goes wrong is base repair. A low spot is almost never fixed by adding sand on top; the pavers have to come up, the base has to be re-compacted or replaced, and the field has to be re-screeded so water moves the way Delta designed it to. We’ve pulled apart enough homeowner-patched driveways in Houston to know that a bag of paver sand from the big box store just washes into the street by October. If your pavers are shifting, edging is failing, or water is pooling, call us at (254) 272-5240 and we’ll walk the site with you, written price included, before anything is touched.
FAQs

Delta pavers themselves carry a structural lifespan of 20 to 30 years, but in Houston the base layer typically needs re-compaction or replacement every 10 to 15 years due to expansive clay movement and drainage stress. The pavers can often be reused when the base is rebuilt. Call (254) 272-5240 and we’ll tell you honestly whether your pavers can be reset or need replacement.
Yes, in most cases. If the pavers themselves are intact and the problem is joint washout, edge failure, or a localized base settlement, we repair the affected section rather than replacing the whole field. We recommend repair whenever the remaining pavers still have structural integrity. Call us for a free site walk and we’ll give you a written scope for the repair alone.
A section repair in Houston usually takes one to two days. A full driveway replacement runs three to five working days depending on access, weather, and the base work required. We schedule around your family’s quiet hours where possible and keep the driveway passable at the end of each day. Call (254) 272-5240 to get a timeline for your specific site.
We stock the most common Delta series in our service vehicles, including Permeable and Estate molds we see most often in Houston neighborhoods. For retired molds or older color lots, we source the match from Delta’s distribution network and confirm the dye-lot match with you before ordering, so you are never surprised by a color difference. Call ahead and we’ll tell you whether your paver is one we carry.
