IKO Windows & Doors: The Houston Owner’s Guide
We keep IKO-compatible replacement parts in stock across Houston and install them for between $250 and $900 per window or door, depending on the part and the unit. Most IKO window and door failures we see in Houston are caught when a sash stops closing cleanly, a lock won’t catch, or a patio door starts dragging along its track. If your IKO window or door is sticking, rattling, leaking air, or refusing to latch, we can usually source the exact replacement component and have it installed within a week – and we’ll tell you the written price before any work starts.
Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO builds windows and doors under a range of series, and the part you need depends on which one you own. We most commonly work on IKO’s vinyl and hybrid series units installed in Houston homes built after 1995, including their casement windows, single-hung windows, and sliding patio doors. The easiest way to identify your IKO model is to check the spacer bar between the glass panes – IKO prints the manufacturing date and series code there on most units from the last 20 years. If the spacer label has worn off, open the sash and look at the top edge for an etched code or a small white sticker.
A note on replacements: an OEM IKO part will be an exact fit, but on units older than about 12 years, IKO’s current series often changed the profile enough that an OEM part no longer matches. In those cases we order a quality aftermarket equivalent – same dimensions, same function, but available when IKO’s older parts have gone out of production. Either way, we’ll show you the specific part we intend to install before we order it, with the manufacturer name and the price written down.

Signs Your IKO Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Latch won’t catch or pops loose: The most common IKO issue here in Houston is a worn latch or keeper on casement windows and sliding doors. Humidity and repeated use slowly round over the metal teeth. If you have to lift or pull the sash to get the lock to engage, the part is on its way out.
- Sash binds or sticks when opening: In Houston’s heat, vinyl expands and tightens against the frame, and a worn balance or roller makes it worse. The sash should glide with one hand; if you are using two hands and a shoulder, the guide track or balance has failed.
- Draft around the sash on a calm day: A failed weatherstrip or a bent rail alignment on an IKO window lets conditioned air leak out. You’ll typically feel it around the bottom corners first.
- Condensation between the glass panes: This is a failed IGU (insulated glass unit), not something you wipe off. Once the internal seal breaks, the window’s thermal performance drops and no cleaning fixes it.
- Patio door jumps the track or grinds: IKO sliding doors in Houston take a beating from tracked-in grit and humidity-driven frame movement. A worn roller or bent track makes the door heavy and loud, and it only gets worse.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here in Houston, replacing an IKO window part runs $250 to $900 installed, depending on what failed and what series you own:
- Balance replacement (single-hung): $250 – $450
- Casement crank and operator replacement: $300 – $550
- Latch and keeper replacement: $200 – $400
- Sliding door roller replacement (pair): $350 – $650
- Full IGU replacement (per sash): $500 – $900
Each price includes the part, the install labor, and haul-off of the failed component. The only thing that shifts the number is access – second-story windows cost more than ground-floor work, and an IKO patio door with a jammed track takes longer than a simple roller swap. You’ll get one written number before we touch anything, and if we find something unexpected, we’ll stop and explain before any dollar amount changes. No surprises, no change orders on the back end.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things on an IKO window or door before calling us: remove the screen and look for obvious debris in the track, check that the sash is still seated evenly in the frame, and note whether the issue happens in all weather or only on hot afternoons. What we recommend against doing yourself is anything involving the glass unit itself or the spring-loaded balances inside a vinyl window frame. Those balances are under enough tension to injury a hand, and removing an IGU without the right IKO-specific spacer blocks often leaves you with a broken pane and a bigger bill. If you are not certain what part failed, call (254) 272-5240 and we’ll walk through what you’re seeing.
FAQs

In Houston’s climate, expect 8 to 14 years from most IKO moving parts – balances, rollers, and operators – before heat, humidity, and dust wear them down.
Sealed glass units typically last 15 to 25 years depending on sun exposure and how well the original installation kept water away from the frame. If yours is under 10 years old and already fogged, the original install likely let moisture into the frame. Call (254) 272-5240 and we can look at that with you before you order a part.
Yes – when the sash, frame, and glass are still sound, replacing the failed hardware or seal component is almost always the better value than replacing the entire unit in Houston.
We’ll only recommend a full replacement if the frame itself is compromised, like rot at the sill on a wood-clad IKO unit or a frame that shifted enough that no new part will seat correctly. Otherwise, the fix is the part, not the window.
Most IKO part replacements take 45 minutes to 2 hours on site. An IGU replacement can stretch to 3 hours if the old glass unit is sealed into the frame and needs careful extraction.
We’ll tell you the time window when we confirm the appointment, and the price you see before work starts is the price you pay when we leave.
We stock common IKO wear items on our Houston trucks – latches, keepers, rollers, and standard balances – because those are the highest-turnover parts we see week to week in this market.
For less common IKO series or odd sizing, we order the part and schedule the install once it arrives. If you’re unsure what you need, call (254) 272-5240 and we’ll tell you if it is a same-visit fix or a follow-up appointment.
Graham Stein, our owner, runs job sites the way he would want someone to run a job at his own house – written scope before a tool comes out, drop cloths down before cutting starts, and an end-of-day walkthrough so you are never surprised. A written price and a covered floor before any work begins – that is where the trust starts. The other brands we stock parts for include KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, but our Houston IKO parts coverage is the most complete because that is what our local calls most often ask for.
If your IKO window or door is failing, call (254) 272-5240 to schedule your free estimate. We’ll look at the part, name exactly what needs replacing, and hand you a written number before anything gets ordered.
